Alex said "with many of our friends and family coming from overseas we wanted our menu to have a real local and kiwi flavour such as New Zealand lamb, seafood on the barbie, mini pavlovas and artisan New Zealand cheeses. It all went down a treat.

"We decided with Ruth's team to play up the typical kiwi style by barbecuing the scampi entree in front of guests over drinks, before they took their seats in the marquee. The dessert buffet, which was replenished throughout the night, also gave our friends and family the chance to circulate, and to hit the dance floor as soon as they wanted.”

Beautifully fresh summer flowers (hydrangeas, sweet peas and roses in shades of purple and mauve with touches of pink) decorated the marquee and wedding cake, and were a triumph. The sides of the marquee were open to let in Ruth's beautiful garden and the clear roof on the marquee let in the starry Te Horo sky.

Alex and Tom visited Springfield, decided it was "definitely for us", and thereafter virtually all arrangements were made by email and phone from London directly with Ruth’s team. Alex’s parents Vint and Di Chadwick live nearby, which was a bonus for final decision-making, and made the arrangements and communications even easier.

"The Ruth Pretty Catering team was extremely well organised and responsive, guiding us through every stage of the planning process. Even the smallest details like how the table napkins would be folded were sorted in advance, and nothing was too much trouble. They made it easy for us and the distance was never an issue.

"Our expectations and those of our guests that the food would be top notch were exceeded. We really enjoyed our wedding day and our hopes for a relaxed summer country feeling were perfectly realised” Alex and Tom commented.
