This is a six week series.
Do you have a story burning inside you’d like to tell, but don’t know where or how to start? Would tranquil surroundings, coaching from an award-winning writer, plus delicious food, help do you think?
Wednesday Writing Workshops at Springfield, over six stimulating weeks, could be your answer. Tutor and Kapiti Coast-based writer Mandy Hager was recently awarded the Storylines Mahy Medal, for life-time achievement and a distinguished contribution to New Zealand’s literature for young people. This is Mandy’s latest in an impressive array of writing awards, including the Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship, and incorporates her skills tutoring Whitirea’s Creative Writing programme.
Over six Wednesday mornings (plus lunch), Mandy will guide you through shaping your story so that people want to keep reading and it says what you really want to say. You’ll learn how to breathe life into your characters, whether for a novel, memoir, short story or family history, hone your skills and write a story that grips your readers. Relaxing together over Ruth’s café-style lunch, sharing ideas and great discussions will be both fun and valuable after all that brain-work.

9.15 am for tea/coffee in the Garden Room
10am – 12 noon for the Workshop in the Springfield house
