Description

"Many people are needlessly nervous about making jams and jellies,” says Ruth, "so in this hands on class we will de-mystify the subject and share our foolproof techniques for perfectly set and delicious results. This is not just making jam for toast; we find a dollop of tangy jelly adds a burst of flavour and moisture to a savoury dish, and finishes it beautifully”. Equipped with a Diploma of Home Science from Otago University, Test Chef Jo-Anne Keating will steer you clear of potential pitfalls, explain everything clearly and ensure the jar of deliciousness you take home will be perfect. "Everyone loves that huge mouthful of flavour just a teaspoonful of jam provides,’ says Jo, "and home-made jam or jelly is streets ahead of mass-marked products. It’s worth mastering a few simple techniques so you can produce your own seasonal speciality jars with pride, for gifts or your own pleasure”. Lunch will be in the Garden Room, and incorporate jams and jellies. Comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended, and aprons will be provided. Saturday 12 April 2014 11.00am - 2.30pm (arrive from 10.30am for coffee)
