"When an absolutely divine bouquet arrived from Sarah and Andrew, with a very nice card thanking our team for all their help for the wedding, my mind instantly recalled their particularly attractive wedding, in a lovely location. And Sarah’s stunning lace veil,” Ruth reminisced.

"Sarah and Andrew have generously let us share their wedding in pictures, with our memories as well as theirs,” Ruth explained.

Sarah and Andrew were clear they wanted "a romantic feel, with a garden-like bohemian look”.

We recommended Lacewood at Tuhitarata, a relatively new and very beautiful property in the southern Wairarapa. We are proud to be one of only two caterers accredited to Lacewood.

The 1870s historic house was one of the first in this region, and has been graciously restored, and the gardens include mature trees, big lawns, pretty gardens both formal and informal. Sarah and her bridesmaids (also in lace) dressed in the house, and this image shows why I remember her lace veil so clearly. So appropriate at Lacewood!

Sarah found her romantic dress and vintage veil at the very stylish Rue De Seine in Auckland. Complementary hair and makeup by Rebecca Connor completed the vintage look.

Scent Florist created the flowers to add soft colours for bouquets, tables (in vintage jars) and stylish ‘flowers in jars’ handing from the trees for the ceremony. Everyone admired them immensely.

Lacewood’s spectacular double storied restored barn (described as ‘cathedral-like’) is ideal for the long tables Sarah and Andrew wanted for their reception.

Because they told us they "especially love Mediterranean and particularly Italian food, and sharing plates to make it a fun and convivial night for our guests”, we recommended shared entree and dessert plates, and offering guests a choice of main course, accompanied by shared sides.

They were kind enough to say "this worked perfectly. Everything looked and tasted amazing”.

For something completely different, the Celebration Cake was three layers of whole perfectly ripe New Zealand Artisan Cheeses. A new take of Cheese Cakes!"

Sarah has the last word. "We feel Ruth Pretty provided so much more than just superb catering. They gave advice on planning our day, helped set up and pack everything away, and co-ordinated with our florist and band. Planning our special day was such a fun and enjoyable experience.

"For example, we wanted our guests to be entertained while we were having photos taken. Wedding co-ordinator Kylie suggested Anton the Magician, and our guests said he was brilliant.

"Most importantly, they provided exceptional service to everyone on the day and made it all run smoothly, so we could enjoy every single moment.”
