The Brief

When Sarah and William were married, they wanted a quiet yet elegant celebration for close friends and family, feeling it was fitting for an older couple. As most of their 40 guests knew each other already, they wanted the opportunity for guests to mingle easily and a formal dinner did not appeal.

The Result

An elegant afternoon tea party at home was the perfect solution. On arriving at the house from the church ceremony, guests were served dainty yet delicious sandwiches and light scones to start, presented on tiered tea stands in the traditional style. Delicate flowers and pretty crockery, and the bride's wee god-daughter as flower-girl, set the scene.

Afterwards, with celebratory drinks, Ruth Pretty Catering staff served passarounds which encompassed both hot and cold food. Fresh napkins were provided with each offering, and as skewers and other paraphernalia were removed immediately, no-one was left clutching debris. Each guest received plenty of food, alleviating the bride’s concerns.

Concluding the festivities, a two-tiered wedding cake was ceremonially cut and small pieces served to guests. The non-traditional cake – Gin and Lemon – was in keeping with the elegant and non-traditional approach to a very happy occasion for close friends and family members.
