Ruth Pretty's famous linen/cotton tea-towels are back after being unavailable for two years.

The story is one of determination and persistence. The original Czech supplier closed down, and although many imitations were offered none came up to scratch, and Ruth's resolve held firm. The original tea-towels were robust and hardy, ideal for resting perfectly roasted meat without it continuing to cook, as well as all the usual tea-towel tasks.

Eastern Europe is renowned for its linen. Eventually, contacts of contacts of contacts from Havelock North delivered the right contact and translation for the Slovakian goods – stylish yet strong tea towels, a 50/50 linen/cotton blend. Long-time aficionados will notice the new version is finer than before – a deliberate decision to cope with glassware as well as china.
