RAJASTHAN - How to eat rose petals and silver paper
Peta Mathias
Peta Mathias is always attracted to colour and flavour, but even her breath was taken away in Rajasthan (the Land of Kings) in northern India. She says "This is a land of colour, noise, laughter, poverty, fabulous food and beautiful clothes. For once I am out-blinged despite my preposterous chandelier earrings". Peta relished exploring foods with centuries of history, like the vegetarian dishes of Hindu Raja, the opulence of Murghal cuisine, cereals and chillis (to appease hunger) from nomadic desert tribes. She was entranced by the range of breads, rice dishes, fruits, vegetables and learning the subtleties of spices. Now she cannot wait to share her enthusiasm and skills with a local twist for intrepid food- lovers. Peta’s infectious personality and passion for sharing great food and culinary stories makes her a very popular guest presenter. She says "The best way to access a culture is through its food and trying everything is the way to do it".

FROM SAN FRAN TO SANTORINI
Tina Duncan
For Tina Duncan, the best thing about being a food editor (Simply You), caterer (White Tie Catering, Christchurch) and guest presenter (very popular at Springfield) is the ‘necessity’ of eating your way around the world. Food is the heart of local culture and more often than not is about bringing family and friends around the table and nourishing the communal soul. After her latest travels around Greece’s island paradise Santorini and America’s food heaven San Francisco, Tina will share favourite trends, recipes and stories, presented in a way that works for you at home. How did she cope with a surprise visit from her all-time food hero in a superstar restaurant? From the dairy gods in Santorini, whimsical Napa Valley food trends and the world’s most renowned roast chicken, Tina will take you on an entertaining culinary journey that always ends up in the same place – around a table, eating with friends.

REFINED COMFORT FOOD
Ruth Pretty
You’d love to have friends round for dinner, but also you don’t want to spend a fortune or feel you have to produce cordon bleu everything. You know it’s supposed to be fun but too often it’s something to dread, so you put it off. The answer is what Ruth calls refined comfort food. It's simple, tasty, nourishing and relatively inexpensive but not exactly mince on toast either. Well, you wouldn’t expect that from Ruth, would you? Her philosophy of "it doesn’t matter what you make as long as it’s tasty" comes to the fore: she understands that busy people can’t spend two days cooking and don’t want to be so stressed when their guests arrive they’ve gone off the whole idea. So look forward to some straightforward to make and easy to eat treats, full on flavour and light on stress. This is food to share with people you like and want to spend a relaxed evening with. Invite them now..
